Topic: Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks: IT System Modernization

Track: Analytics

Abstract: Modernization efforts like the Federal Information Technology Reform Act (FITARA) are challenging public entities around the world to upgrade systems and improve capabilities. But with a heavy reliance on legacy platform and data systems, agencies can’t simply abandon prior investments while pursuing their public mandate.

Today’s BI solutions must seamlessly coexist with legacy platforms, enabling agencies to preserve historical data systems while introducing new, state-of-the-art functionality. A comprehensive BI platform will provide scalable performance, advanced analytics, big data, native mobile apps, easy migration to cloud, data discovery, and SDK features—all deployed on top of existing systems.

In this talk, Danielle will explain why a holistic BI solution is ideal for government environments—as governed data helps to ensure that agencies are working with a single, consistent version of the truth.
